I'm a newbie and found this forum because a friend is selling his Hustler and it sounds great except for one small problem....when you turn the reverb up, the hum is unbearable.
The pleats and grill cloth are in good shape and the mutha is LOUD!
The light does not come on....are there replacements available?
Not sure why I want such a large beast as this but for some reason, I'm hooked.
Either encourage me to buy it or tell me why i should not.....ANY info is appreciates.....I've been more of a Fender/Ampeg guy for the last 30 years

Hello, and welcome. Ask him how much he wants for it first off. If he's asking way too much in your opinion, don't do it since you could probably find one on Ebay for less (note, someone else could advise you better on a price, but i'd say no more than $350 or so; i don't own any Kustom combos, only heads and cabs). Kustoms are very reliable and great sounding amps, especially with pedals. The reverb hum is probably just the reverb picking up the transformer buzzing. If you rotate the pan around or mount it elsewhere (like in the bottom or side of the amp), the hum should disappear. Otherwise, you may need a new pan or cables the lead to the pan; they are hooked up with RCA cables (also search the forum for "reverb hum", There was a post about this very issue a short while ago). I have an Ampeg SS140C head that had a nasty reverb hum, so I just took the back panel off, unscrewed the vynil bag it was in, and rotated it (and obviously re-assembled it). The hum completely vanished. About the light, do a forum search regaurding the pilot lights; there are a few posts that have exact part numbers of replacements and tips on installation. Good luck!

Big thanks V! I did indeed find Hustler stuff in this forum and I really appreciate your guidance.....like I said, it is a great sounding amp but why I want to haul this beast around, I'll never know....I haven't bought it yet. I'll get to really put it through it's paces next week and then I'll make up my mind.
I play clean and it deffo doesn't have any crunch but it cuts like a knife and I play a Ricky 330 with toaster tops....if I don't get this one I'll for sure keep my eye out for a Kustom.....I don't know the models yet but I'll study up on 'em and this forum is amazing.....
Cheers
