Okay....I tried the Hustler out and decided it has issues and is too big to haul around BUT....I fell in love with the tremelo and vibrato on this amp.
Now I want a combo with these features.....where does a guy turn when he wants a tuck and roll Kustom combo? Ebay? I'm gonna sell my Fender Deluxe 65 reissue and buy a Kustom....What are the model numbers for combos with the trem/vibrato feature?
I know these are a lot of questions but I'm hooked.
Thanks in advance for info and guidance

welcome....to the real world!

hey..glad to have another kustom fan on board...and yeah..the trem/vib on the kustoms really is one of the nicest out there and there's nuttin shabby about the verb either.

ok...we have some great scans of the original literature..and I've got to direct you to my personal favorites..the SC series...and if you are looking for ease of luggin..I'd have to suggest either the 1x12K50 or the 2x10SC100/150 models.

the 2x10 can get plenty bold for 10s and can hold its own against a drumset on stage..the K50...not quite as well, but the 12" is great.
both have what you want.. I don't know if the circuit is any different, but the old K50 / K25C 1x12s had a different layout on the panel with the trem being a push/pull whereas the other 100 models have a left right.
There are several amps on ebay right now..a great lil red K50 and a beautiful blue 2x10SC150..both are likely done by the time this gets back....but there is also a black 4x10 that looks great..those are wonderful amps..but not a one-hander loadin.
but keep your eyes peeled cause the little combos do turn up quite often...and welcome...

Hello. I've never tried one of the combos before, but I would also suggest looking for a K100-2 with a 2x12 cab. Those have the trem on them and it'll get a lot louder than a smaller 2x10 or 1x12 combo. It's two items to carry instead of one combo, but you have versatility in speaker configuration; you could use anything from a little 1-10" cab to a pair of 16 ohm 4x12's (K100s are only meant to go down to 8 ohms). Then again, I think some of these smaller combos have ext. speaker jacks, so if you needed more volume just hook up another cab and let it rip! My word of advice, try out as many Kustoms as humanly possible. Something as small as a K50 may work, or if you're a power feind like myself, you could go all the way up to a K200. Good luck!

power hungry?...how bout a big ol K400..its as big as the back seat of your Dad's 69 buick and packs 100 watt rms per side of the loudest tone you will ever hear.
but back to earth..the K50 is perfect cause you can continue the hunt for a 2x12 cab later...the K50 is exactly the same width as a 2x12 cab and makes the coolest mini stack when you sit it on top...you can add a speaker jack and run all three of the 12s at the same time..the 2x12 bottom will give you a much deeper tone and of course more air so more volume, plus the ohm drop ( I run a 16 ohm 12 in my combo and the 2x12 is an 8 ohm.. I don't know what that actually means but the amp has handled it for the past 35 years without a complaint...plus the combo sitting on top means there's a 12 at near head height and so you can hear really well without having to be as loud as say a 2x12 or 4x12 rig sitting on the floor blowing past your knees...you'll look so cool and be able to take just the combo to practice and small gigs and then add the cab when its called for.

you have been running your head at 5.3 ohms(16 x 8)divided by (16+8)= 5.3

thanks Steve.. I figured it was worse than that since both of my 2x12 ross cabs (8 ohm) ohm out on the meter at 6.7 (old conversation I know)...and I wasn't sure how the amp saw the speakerload anyway..since it isn't really a "series?" connection...does it see the 16 ohm and the rest get whatever...see, here's where I show my ignorance...which is better than what I usually show...all Ican tell ya is that I've abused my little K25C 1x12 combo for many many years this way and it just sounds great..surprisingly loud and full and looks cooler than anything out there

Igot the K25 on my 14th birthday/christmas..that was back in 69?...new...and for the next couple years I would make the regular Saturday pilgrimage down to the music store and pull the 100 head off a K100 rig and stack their K25 combo on top and just stand there an stare at it..the store guys got used to me and my illness and were very patient...the other garage band boys were snagging fender cabs, pa columns whatever they could find to hook to their combos..anything to get louder and look bigger..me.. all Iwanted was that little 2x12 ported cab.. I drew it on every piece of school paper...it was years later after I married and got my house in order before I came across a dead clean 2x12 cab in a pawn shop for $125 and took it home..and if you went out into my warehouse right now you'd find my K25 sitting on top of that cab.. Ihave a second cab and its matched to a K100 head as is proper...but I've had that little K25/2x12 combo on stages in a 6500 seater, an 8,000 seater and any number of clubs..that amp survived garage band days..went tocollege with me where it burned constantly as I won the guitar chair in the college jazz band , toured with it onthe bus, and played on weekends in an all black soul band as the token white boy so we could get the college and high school dances..it still has played to this day on wedding jobs, etc and now only takes a back seat to my pair of blue 4x10s....never in the shop..never failed me...love my kustoms! ET

Hello. Maybe there is something to that ohm mismatch of 16 and 8. My full stack with my K200-A5 on top is running a Crate 4x12 slant on top at 16 ohms and an Orange 4x12 at 8 ohms, and it sounds absolutely perfect. 5.3 ohms is great for my amp since at 4 ohms it clips too easily and at 8 ohms it isn't as loud, so I have a perfect medium. With my 2x15 Jensen cab though (which meters to around 6.3 DC resistance), it gets very loud too; the older, broken in speakers have the lower ohm load (my CTS 1x15 100 cab, which is rated at 16 ohms, reads 10.7 for instance). Anyway, I love it since the Orange has higher wattage Eminence speakers from '71 in it and the Crate has lower wattage speakers (i think the cab is from the late 80's). It mixes well since the Orange is really bassy and round, while the Crate plays out higher and is more scooped. The two together make a 5'10" monster of awesomeness, and of course it only works well with my blue K200-A5; i've tried other amps with this setup and the Kustom kicks them all. Good luck!

P.S.- if any of you are going to be in the Cedarburg, WI (north of Milwaukee, Ozaukee county area) tomorrow night (13th) at 7:00, you should check out the Jam for Charity in the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center. I'll be using this amp there Very Happy

Just remmember that your lowest impedence spk will be getting twice the wattage of the higher ones!

ok.. I think that's perfect...but do you mean the entire 2x12 cab?...cause for example, Ive got this 16 ohm PV shefield in my 1x12 combo..and a split line from the amp (not off the speaker..think 'Y' cable) going to the 2x12 bottom and I want that bottom to get the biggest bang...if that's the case then by shear dumb luck I've been hitting the optimum all these years..yes, used to be a jenson special design in the combo..still have that speaker..but it needs a recone and I had a no cost deal on the shefield so I tried it..and like it in that amp..closer to the CTS warm round tone than it is to a jenson.
whatver the case.. I always get a huge and surprisingly loud sound from that little K25c kustom connected to the 2x12 cab..have always wanted to try a K50 and see just how big the world can be...its just a great little stack..and so dang cool looking!

Hello. I have a pic of the stack, if you email me at voided_3@hotmail.com just put the word "kustom" somewhere in the subject line. Thanks!
