just wondered if anyone has any experience with using vox guitars with kustom cabinets. i have a k200 head with matching 2X15 cabinet, and found a 68 vox cougar bass locally. ok that.

If I recall right, those vox pick ups are like the rickenbacker pickups, pretty low output, they may sound good but will surly cause no problem to the amp.

Hello. Nice bass! I use a variety of bass amps and basses, but I have found that Kustoms can take anything. I personally have a late 60's Norma violin bass and it sounds great through my Kustom K200-B6 with either a CTS 1x15 or a pair of CTS 2x15's (very loud). In fact, i've found that the "High" input works very well with active basses too, oddly enough, even though I don't own one. I usually use a Jazz bass or a P-bass, or the violin bass and they all have very unique yet all great sounds through the Kustom set-ups. So basically vintage bass + vintage amp = good vintage sound; makes sense. Good luck!

I love the sound of single coils for bass playing with a pick for that yes/ kansas type sound, I have a old gibson SB400( looks like a thicker body SG) that no thing can touch for that sound, the only thing that comes real close is my fender pre-s that I put in a set of active EMGs for a jass bass, but I do not think they make them any more in fact I like their sound better for everything, for me they beat out tone wise the pickups in my new carvin with the 18 volt active system and the monster size humbucker at the bridge, its even better than the active EMGs in my spector 5 string. I guess I should look for a used set and keep them on hand. The hum isue with single colis can be addressed a great deal by rapping thin aluminum or copper sheet metal around the sides of the pickups and hooking it up to your guitar ground. stewart macdonald even makes a conductive paint that you can coat the cavities in the body with and the ground that out.
