OK gang...at the invitation from ET, here I am. Long time listener, first time caller. It's been many years since I've slept at night with Tuck and Roll in the music room. Need some help on deciphering serial number...Kustom Style! I recently bought a Kustom 300 PA head. Serial # 66421. Even more recently I lucked into a 4 X 12 Kustom Cab. on E-Bay (which is where ET was stalking me from). Serial #47181. Anybody have any idea when these units were made? Thank you everyone for letting me have this 4 X 12 cab. I've discovered from this site, that the only reason I was able to get this one was because all of you guys already had 5 or 6 of 'em! P.S. Just got a 250 head from E-Bay...haven't received it yet. My wife is staring to get suspicious about my new mistress. You know, the one with all that beautiful padding!!! Last month I had NO Tuck & Roll. Today I have three! Is there a pattern to all of this madness. Is this my mid-life crisis?

wheel, you have contracted what we call kustom fever. I got it almost three years ago after having thought myself to be cured. It lay dormate for 29 years and when it resurfaced, it came back like hurricane Andrew. I have gotten over 60 some pieces of kustom amps, cabinets, model one and model 2 organs, K200A gutars and bass guitars. It had gotten so bad, I was debating on selling the furniture to make more room and use my 118FH cabinets as couch and love seat/subs for my surround sound. With ET's guidance, and the rest of the gang, you should do very well. Only known cure is to send me all your kustoms, and I'll call you in the morning. On the question of age of the 300PA and 4x12 cabinet. The 300 series were introduced in 1971 along with the square 4x12 cabinet. I'm not real good with serial #s and after hearing Bud talk about the early days of kustom, and the way he numbered them, it is not something I want to tackle. Glad to see you jumped on the site, and I'm sure there will be other comments on your questions. Don

Don, I don't know that I can bring myself to send what few Kustom items I have to you. Surely it would only amount to an ashtray in your decorative scheme. You PROMISE to call me in the morning...but will you? I just can't take that chance. My wife agrees with your solution, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm gonna try to beat this thing on my own, but I truly appreciate you taking me under your wing. I'll do my best...(at least that's what I'm telling my wife). Gotta go now, just received my third piece of Roll & Pleat, gotta clean 'er up and knock the dust off some walls! SEE YA! Wheel

Twenty five months ago I contacted ET....I had no Kustoms at all. Now I have 20 or 21 I forget and it keeps changing! See what will happen? Seriously.....no sincerly as I am seldom serious.....this renewal with Kustom after many years of absence is one of the best things to happen to me as well....and I only have 1 4x12! Glad to have you.....keep buying tuck and roll! BC

Update: Received my 250 head today. Got it home and cleaned it up (it's perty!) Plugged her in and.....let me catch my breath....it's beeeeautiful!!! That's absolutely the 1st time my Strat has sounded like a Strat in about 25 years! I try to think back as to why I ever got rid of my 1st Kustom 250 to begin with. It initially was a retro thing for me. Years (and years) ago, my first venture into the Kustom world, I bought a 250 head with a 4 X 12 cab. Now, a gazillion amps later, I plug this thing in, and, well, right now I'm thinking about Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Johnny Unitas, Raymond Berry....OK I'm back now. ET, I don't know who you are...but thanks for inviting me into your world. For the first time in years I'm contacting some of my old bandmates to see if anyone has any pictures of our old gigs. Played in a "power trio" where the bass player had 4 - 2 X 18 cabs and I was using 4 - 4 X 12 cabs. Power modules? I think we were the first. 4 Tuck & Roll PA cabs! Tuck & Roll wall to wall. And ET...we played LOUD! Take care gang. Thanks for the responses and making me feel welcome. P.S. - I was too late evidently to grab the 2 X 12 empty cab in the classifieds. Maybe next time.

Welcome into the Kustom "family" ! I too, am a lover of the 250 series heads. I own three. One is a blue 250-1 with a 2-15" power module cab. In a week or so I will be receiving the non-powered cab, so I will have the complete 500 set ! I also own a black 250-1 and a 250-2. Sometimes I think some of the guys think I'm krazy for liking the non-plexi face ones, but I do love them ! I also love my 200B-1, the K25C-2, and my 2-12" cab....... the only problem that I have with kollecting them is--I can't seem to have enough money to get all of them that I see and want !

wheel, I was thinking about the 250 heads today, and I know if you plug into the bottom input of the channel your using, you will hear a big difference in power. Kustom was trying to match the input for different guitars with single coils and humbucking models. The bottom input is really a bear with a les paul. There is also a product update for service that deals with the first run 150 and 250 heads that can increase the output. Customers were complaining the 250 heads weren't as loud as the old 200 series, so kustom service dept. sent out a update to correct this problem. I'll dig it out and post it. I started out with a 2x10 hi freq. cabinet and a powered monitor column and the rest is history, those kustom amps just seem to follow me home. Don

I'll tell ya guys( and gal) this is the sweetest part of this whole kollecting thing..welcome Wheel...great to have you... you need to know that your 4x12 was the one rig that was about to break my current promise to myself to not buy any more rigs.. but lack of toy money helped me come to my senses and now I'm really glad that I didn't chase it and that we've found you as a result...I wish I had some of the early emails from BC...you'd be amazed how much alike they are to what I'm getting from you...anyhoo..welcome to the greatest bunch of folks you will ever meet...hope you can make plans to come to our second annual kustom bash this year...you won't believe your eyes...Play Loud....ET!

just saw a pic from JC of his latest K100 white acquisition...the thing looks pristine...hey John..hate your guts man!....sincerely though..a congrat is in order as this makes a complete set of really nice K100s now for JC. I really appreciate him making the effort to build such a collection as I think its important to the posterity of this moment of art in rock n roll history. Way ta go JC!
