The Music [message #592] Fri, 01 June 2001 14:06 Quack Messages: 6 Registered: June 2001 Location: Lancaster, CA Junior Member The one thing that seems to be missing from this site is the music of the people who's padded sparkle buddies help to produce. I don't have a CD burner yet, but plan to by this fall. The idea would be for a compilation CD from tapes sent in from Kustom users, young & old, amateur & professional, etc...If anyone else can burn now, we could send tapes with return SASE for the CD and a donation for the blanks. Think it over - could be quite entertaining! I'll volunteer when my finances allow the burner purchase. Report message to a moderator

Re: The Music [message #593 is a reply to message #592] Fri, 01 June 2001 14:18 Anonymous nice thought..don't know that my work warrants the waste of a perfectly good blank CD...but to stray a bit on your topic, it is fun to hear from everyone as to the venues that their rigs are showing up in...for example..this past couple years my gear has been on stage for arena events under the Promise Keepers logo, has done an outdoor gig for Don McClean (American Pie) reminding him just how old he is, has been in countless clubs and wedding gigs where not only my guitar rigs are singing, but my old kustom 3x15 sirens and 2x15 bass cabs are continually pressed into service as part of my PA system, kustoms run every month on stage at my church and it looks like July will find me once again back on an arena stage where I am planning to run a pair of 2x12 SCs both driving an additional 2x12 Ross cab...I know its nothing compared to the kustom legacy, but I hope Bud is still proud to know that 30 years on, in front of 10,000 plus, there will be, by God tuck n roll on stage ! Being computer challenged, I do have a burner and would just need the software to convert the music from audio analog to digital format. Any help on that issue would be great. My kustoms are used for PA, a pair of 118FH for my subs, and I usually play a K50 on stage. I have been asked by a young persons " where did you get the marshmellow amp" I hate to tell them, the amp is older than they are. Don Report message to a moderator

Re: The Music [message #608 is a reply to message #595] Sat, 02 June 2001 11:11   RoyC Messages: 97 Registered: April 2000 Location: East Central Illinois Member You people probably already know this, but I have burned CD's from .wav files by plugging the stereo out from a multi-track recorder through a cord that had 2 RCA type plugs on one end and a mini-phone plug (TRS) on the other, plugging that into my sound card and playing the tape while Windows 'Sound Recorder' recorded it. I'm really computer semi-ignorant, but I ended up with pretty good results. I did the 'mixing and editing' on the fly while 'Sound Recorder' was doing it's thing. As you people probably already know, .wav files take up a lot of memory. At the CD quality settings, each 1 minute of song equals about 1 meg of HD. I ended up burning about 20 CD's of my previous band and giving them away to our fans (small fan base). They probably made excellent coasters. :P Obtw, Welcome to the FORUM, Quack. The results were good. I can make a cassette compilation and then transfer to CD with relatively good sound quality. Those interested can e-mail me at dvanque@yahoo.com and I'll get you my address. Send a cassette tape of one or two of your favorite Kustom-based kreations and I'll put them together for distribution back to the K-head fan base. I can make a 60 minute cassette or 74 minute CD. The price of materials is low and mailing cost depends on the cost of the padded envelopes and postage to your area...I'll price out the envelopes and get a postal rate chart this week. I can't see it being more than $3 - $4 each since I'll do them at COST. Such a deal, Eh? Don't be shy, how could you be anyway, just look at the garish, puffy gear you use in public! It will record from any external source through the "in" jack on your sound card! Go to "www.musicmatch.com" You can download the free version. If you like it, you can upgrade to the "full" version. You can also convert wav files to mp3's so that it takes up much less space on your hard drive (approx. 1/10th the size of a wav file). It's a pretty cool lil' program. Check it out. You can also "rip" audio CD's that you have to mp3 format to your hard drive. Wheel Wheel Report message to a moderator

I do have a wave converter to mp3's. I guess I have should have looked sooner. I have a old cassette recording of myself playing through a kasino little joe when the amp first arrived at our store.
