I have 2 Kustom 50 amps (model K50-2). Each contain a single 12" speaker. One of the amps has a Jensen speaker with the following numbers written on the rim of it: 30410 C8774-4R C12N 220033. Can anybody tell me what the impedence of this speaker is? Also, do all K50-2 amps require the same impedance speaker? Thanks for your comments!
Hello. If you have a digital multimeter, just set it to the lowest ohm setting, touch the tester wires to the corresponding connectors on the speaker, and you'll get your DC impedance. Otherwise, you can pick one up the hardware store. Good luck!

The speaker is 8 ohms Jensen never made a 4 ohm version of the c12n model and Kustom never used a 16 ohm speaker in any single speaker amp. The 033 from the 220033 string means the speaker is a 1970 and so is the amp, and the speaker was made on the 33rd week of 1970. I just went to the coldsprings electrical works site, this guy has tons of vintage speakers for sale. He gets 200 bucks of a 1970 Jensen C12N. These are great sounding speakers, if you need to get it reconed it will run about 60 bucks before shipping. Their are some better sounding speakers out today, that are a little louder than what you have, but not by much, atleast as far as tone goes.On a good day that speaker could handle 40 watts, fender`s 85 watt RMS twin reverbs would blow these with clockwork!
Hello. That would make sense for it to be an 8 ohm, but I was just being a little wary since my K100 1x15 cab has a single 16 ohm CTS speaker in it. Good luck with your project!

Is that the original speaker in your K100, I would have to think that kustom made a mistake, or ran out of 8 ohm ones.My 2-12 bass K100 had 2 16 ohm 12s.
Hello, As far as I know, all K100 1x15's were 16 ohms, The pair of 16 ohmers in your 212 would be normal too. It is the original speaker since it is dated from 1968, so I guess Kustom was just being economical and buying 16 ohm speakers in bulk. PLus then you can run two of the 1x15's together in parallel to get the desired 8 ohm load for a k100 head (which I don't own; i use mine with a K200). I guess that's why many people complain about their K100 1x15's being so quiet for guitar and bass.

I would agree about the 1x15 being a 16 ohm speaker. My K25 has a 16 ohm speaker. The only exception to the all 16 ohm rule would have been their 10" and 12" PA columns. Those speakers were 8 ohms running in series-parallel configuration. The speaker columns were rated at 8 ohms with 4 speakers. After the K100-200-400 series I have no idea or interest.

I've had several K-50's and all were 16 ohm, including the Jensen C12N. My K100 piggyback also has 2 Jensen C12N 16 ohm speakers as does my K100 2X12 combo. Most speakers I have run across in Kustoms have been 16 ohm. Keep in mind if you're testing with a multimeter you're measuring resistance not impedance and your readings will actually be a little low compared to the actual impedance- a 16 ohm speaker will meter out at around 12 ohms, an 8 ohm will read around 6 ohms.
