3x15 cabinet sold as 2x15????? [message #6957] Tue, 09 May 2006 12:21   T-Bone Messages: 7 Registered: January 2006 Location: Boston, MA Junior Member Quick question. At the Boston store for Daddy's Junky Music there is what appears to be a 3x15 blue sparkle tuck-n-roll cabinet being sold as a 2x15. See link. I saw this in person and the middle speaker hole has a support in it that looks like it is original and was never cut out to accept a third speaker. However, I couldn't confirm that without the taking the back off. It looks like some one made a block off plate for the middle speaker. Someone knew what they where doing if they where using the cab for bass, as the stock cab loaded with 3 -15s is way to small in cabinet internal volume so taking out one speaker makes for a deeper sounding bass cab. I have both the 3-15 and 2-15 cabinets and the 3-15 one really just has more mids and highs.May be 20% more lows, but everything you would think the added 15 would give. [message #6962 is a reply to message #6957] Wed, 10 May 2006 07:07   stevem Messages: 4733 Registered: June 2004 Location: NY Senior Member I did not notice any port holes eitheir, must be from the first run of those 3-15 cabs.My early horizontal 2-15 cab has the holes in the baffle, but inside the cabinet, it has on each side diagnal wood reinforcements That meet up to a wood plate in the center with a hole in it. and the first thing you think of when you see it is that they must of been toyin with the notion of mounting it in a stand that pivots like the PA head, or like the latter vox amps did for their speaker cabinets. I wonder if anyone who knows bud ross can pass that question along? Report message to a moderator
