i have an amp in my garage my son used for about 15 year.thinking of sellin it but i myself dont know much about amps.my question is what may it be worth.ive seen this amp in old ccr photos its puffy red sparkly vinyl.stands over 6feet tall 3pieces head, amp, and cabinet(<im guessing) excellent condition.model#k 200b 2. output 100wattrms,freq 60hz,inpute 1.8 amps.amp head serial #is 55054 and on the cabinet,9928.works good and as far as i know has original speakers. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you
Hi,
How is the red vinyl - any fading, burns, cuts?
I think you have one amp head and two speaker cabinets - is that right?
How many speakers per cabinet and what size are the speakers?
Just measure the speaker cutout from the front - a 10 inch cutout means it has 12 inch speakers, a 13 inch cutout means 15 inch speakers.
Can you hook it up and test it?
Does it play loud and clean?
Does the reverb work?
Do all the controls work?
Does each speaker work OK?
vinyl is very good condition no fade or burns or rips. theres 3 10inch speakers on the bottom piece.2 8 inch speakers in the middle piece. theres 11 control knobs on the top piece with 2 plug ins for high, low normal. 2 plug ins for high low bright. and a plug in for foot pedal. and its a kustom 200.having a friend test it soon but im positive it works well son played a bar gig in december last time it was used. thanks again for any info.

Both of those speaker cabinets are rather rare, I have only in person seen 1 2-10" in all my 40 plus years of playing music and living in the N.Y metro area!

Sounds like you've got a real winner there! Your amp includes a fairly unusual speaker set-up. Three twelve cabinets are uncommon by themselves, but add a two ten cab and all in red!!!
Of course condition is a huge factor in any amps value. Electronics can be repaired and updated, but the cosmetics of Kustom amps are a big part of their value. Due to the fragility of the Kustom tuck and roll, few survive undamaged.
I'd say we would all love to see photos, and would appreciate updates as to how it works/sounds. This would help in evaluating it's dollar value.
ok got the pictures.youll have to type in this web adrress,www.msnusers.com/jcavspl think i did this right. click on pictures. have about 10 of them on there. ty again for any info. cavs
hmmm thanks stevem not sure why will write it out again so peeps can copy and paste. btw. love this site been reading tons of old posts some intresting stuff. www.msnusers.com/jcavspl
The overall condition appears to be good to excellent. The head I think is a K-200B-2 with reverb and vibrato. There appears to be one speaker changed or re-coned (the center one has a different dust cap), and the 2-10" cab is actually a 2-siren horn cabinet.
I don't know where you are located, but in a vintage shop here in Chicago, your amp would probably sell for $700-$900 in good working condition. It would probably sell higher to a collector type, because of the horn cab and the condition, but most players would probably not care. Red is such a great color, it usually sells for a premium price around here.
If you put it on eBay, be sure to use lots of clear photos and detail any faults. I've seen some stuff sell for amazing dollar amounts. If you get the right guys bidding, you could double what I estimated for the whole rig. The one drawback will be shipping it.
I wish my pockets were deep enough... If it was a red Frankenstein head, maybe I'd get a second mortgage.
