Hey guys.
I found a 15" Kustom speaker(I think its a PA speaker) and a Fi-Sonic Head at my local music shop, and when I play them together the speaker rattles. I've tested both the Head and the Speaker on other equipment, and they sound ok, but together it makes a crackling noise.
I am pretty new to sound equiptment, so would anyone know what the problem would be?

What are you playing thru the set up, guitar or bass?If its a PA speaker its probibly got a horn that may be blown if its not the 15" its self that is on its way out.Maybe if you are sitting the head on top of the speaker the vibration from the speaker is making a bad connection in the head show up, it could be a bad input jack on the amp or a bad jack on the speaker.I really need more info it pin it down better.
Thanks for the info, but I think it was the speaker that was on its way out. I was playing on it with pretty normal volume a couple of days ago and the speaker fuzzed out, whick makes me pretty sad. Thankfully my music shops ordering me a new 15" Celestion speaker, but I don't know how it'll be without the speaker, which had a beautiful sound.
It could be the input or output jacks the amp, I don't know. But thats for your help, you've given me some ideas that could really make a difference.

Hi, if the bad speaker came out of a tuck n roll type kustom cabinet then its worth holding on to the vintage speaker that came out of it and get it re-coned.If its the original driver from the tuck n roll cab, and the original jack plate is still on the back of the cab, that will say on it who the original driver manufacturer was. Their was 5 different make 15 inch speakers that kustom used. 3 where standard drivers and 2 where optional top of the line speakers. The standard bass driver was a CTS brand, and can be IDed by the number 137 stamped on the magnet. one upscale brand could be altec, a model 421 with a ID number of 391 on the mounting lip. The other brand would be JBL, their model D140 driver, JBL uses no ID number. The standard guitar driver would be jensen. with a ID number of 220 then 3 other digets, and model C15L.Top of the line drivers would be the altec model 418b or the JBL D130. Some of the last of the 70s tuck n roll cabs may come with eminence made drivers with 038 number on the magnet. Any of these drivers are worth holding onto, even more so if its one of the top of the line drivers.

Eminence makes a whole S load of different types of drivers, if you liked that speakers tone so much when it was working I would get the info off of the white sticker on the magnet, and call up eminence and get their input on what replacement they have to get you back to that tone.
Thats what I was thinking.
I know Celestions have a nice sound (which was the other 15" they were offering me), but if I could get that Eminence tone back I would be very thankful.
Anyway, (sorry for the double post) I was wondering If you knew what the retail price for the actual speaker and box is worth in its original state, and what it would be worth now. I want to see if my dealer ripped me off.
