Can you be a Kustom nut and only own one Kustom?
Well it doesn’t matter because now I have two (sort of).
I just got an empty Krossroad 2x10 bass cabinet in silver.
Cabinet was never used – amp or back never installed- the only hardware that it has are the factory grill and spring handles.
So I have to get speakers, back, port tube, and casters for it.
I’m not going to install a tweeter at first as the speakers that I am getting have good high end and I use a separate midrange driver with all my cabinets anyway.
I will leave the amp space empty too as I will be using this as a speaker cabinet.

Cabinet is all plywood and is very heavily braced –it has a lot of internal bracing for such a small cabinet.
Internal speaker enclosure volume is 2.27 cubic feet – on the small side for a 2x10
(Avatar 2x10 is 3.39 CF, EV B210 is 3.07 CF, Hartke 2x10TP is 1.6 CF)

I’m putting in Eminence S2010 BassLites – see separate posting under "Replacement Part Suggestions".

congrats on the krossroad...cool lil rigs.. I have 2 of the 2x10H series like that..orinally andy Ross told me they had spec'd EV drivers for those rigs, but the pair of 10s EVs didn't have enough air space to function properly.. I'm stupid about that kind of thing..but just passing on his comment.

the Emi Gama series should do well..not sure the Kappa stuff would like the small cab at full wattage....but again, it was designed to be a 200 watt cab so why put 400watt drivers in there anyway.

the silver is purty ain't it..btw:..that's goodyear fabric on there...at the time, the uniroyal naugha plant had not reopened..just a bit of trivia...

and as for kustom loyalty. I've always considered the krossroads as Bud Ross kustom line and am proud to own them whereas I've not jumped on the Ohio Kustom band wagon yet..

I remember seeing the Krossroad gear in the Elderly Instruments catalog in the late 90s. I HAD to have a 500 rig but I could not justify it at the time (translation: Lacking funds) I finally got myself in position for acquisition and found out they had gone out of business. THAT was when I started my vintage Kustom search....so it all worked out for the best. Les, I remember seeing a place on the net 5 or six years ago that had several empty cabinets like you have....never knew where they went. Remember the Krossroad amps were originally called "Klassic" amps....and Peavey squawked about it so the name was changed. Happy Christmas! Cool BC

there was a Japanese owned concern based in Van Nuys CA that Andy Ross sold the Krossroads biz to...including the remaining fabric, sewing machines, empty/partly finished cabs etc... I kept their name in my memory for a long time..still have the name and contact info buried deep someplace..the production models included:

200 combos in
2x10
2x10H (horn w/biamp)
1x15
1x15H

500 piggybacks
2x15 cab
2x10/1x15 3piece stacks

Goodyear fabric at the time made blue, green (not cascade..green), white/silver, charcoal, red, and black.

the 1x15 200H combo was actually a nice little practice amp or small stage rig....the 2x10 rigs really come up a tad short..especially if you are on a 5 string...but they make a great keyboard amp and I've even pressed them into service as an acoustic guitar amp and on a couple occasions, used a pair of the 2x10combos as small club PA...yep...8 channel mixer into one on each side of the stage..15 folks on the dance floor was a full night but the little rigs did actually pretty well..made us some money.

I tried to contact that Japanese firm in Van Nuys, but got no answer (or the letter came back undeliverable or something). At any rate, I was trying to get a schematic for a 500, but had zero luck and finally gave up.

Ed if you (or any of you other guys) ever talk to Andy again, try to remember to ask him if there are any schematics or other service/tech info available. I did get mine working, but it would be nice to have.

I put EV's in my 210H cab, and it sounds pretty good. I don't know what kind they are - they're unmarked OEM models, cast frame, look like the old "Force" models. A friend got a killer deal on a bunch of them.

update on the Krossroad AR200 empty cab:
I put the Eminence S2010 BassLites in and I made a back for it.
It sounded good overall but my Madison 2x10 was about 5 dB stronger at 50 Hz.
At 40 Hz and even 30 Hz, the Madison 2x10 had decent output but the Krossroad had no output at all.

So I enlarged the speaker enclosure by using the amp space (I do not have the amp for it, anyway.)
This increased the internal airspace by 29% (from 2.27 cubic feet to 2.92 cu ft)
Also I added one pound of insulation.

These two changes made an incredible difference.
The Krossroad now is about 3 dB less than the Madison at 50 Hz, and – 5dB at 40, 30, and 25 Hz.

The weight is not too bad, too, for an almost 3 cubic foot 2x10 speaker cab– 55.2 lbs. The stock weight with amplifier is about 92 lbs.

Its remarkable isn`t it, you would need alot more amp power to get that change just with wattage baby.
I bet if you add 2 of those plastic trianglar ports, or make a port slot opening in the lower part of the baffel you`ed` be right their with the matching DB.
