Hello All,
I have a black Frankenstein Head, on the back it says model C595
could anybody tell me about this model kustom ..it has 2 channels each has vol, bass, treble. with a fuse for power and a fuse for speakers...it works fine but this head cant be more than 50 watts? i was playing it through a kustom 2-15 cab everything on ten ...sounds good but its not the loudest amp ive heard...anybody have a clue how many watts output this head is?
someone told me this was a Pa head from 1967 but it only has one speaker jack on the back...so i guess it couldnt be,
I would like to sell it..how much should I ask? (no rips or tears) I paid 200.00
any help would be great....thank you

Hi, the amp puts out 60 watts RMS into a 8 ohm load when their in good shape. Do a search on this site for my post I did earlyer this year on testing kustom amps output.
Yours in not the PA head, as the PA head has reverb on the left channel.
I paid 350 dollars for my PA head 5 years ago!and that was not bad.

What where you playing thru the 2-15 cab, bass or guitar?
Are other amps louder thru that same cab that have about the same wattage.
What impeadance is your cabinet, if its 4 ohms than that head will only output about 35 watts RMS not 60.

hello, I played guitar through the cab then I tried bass... but your response helps, because YES the cab is wired for 4 ohms. your right it sounds like about a 30-35 watt amp, tonight I will plug in a 8 ohm cab and check it out
thanks

I was wrong, the cab is not 4 ohms.
I never bothered taking the back off the cab because I couldnt the 1st time I tried because of that black Tar.. well today I tried again and to my surprise there are 2 15inch original Jensens, one dated the 47th week of 1968 and the other the 48th week of 1968, checked them with my multimeter they are 16 ohm speakers( Ive never seen 15 inch 16 ohm speakers) they are wired in parallel for a total of a 8 ohm cab... most cabs with (2)15 inch speakers are bass cabinets? most of the time 4 ohm.
did kustom make this a bass cab 8 ohm?
it couldnt be a guitar cab could it?

Those Jensens are full range guitar drivers model C15L, the L model being top of the line for the Jensen musical instrument drivers and are a rare driver.Other than Kustoms the only other place I have seen them used are hammond organ/leslie 122 and 147 models, handling about watts in the 122 model.I would try and keep my bass playing thru them to home use as they are not as hardy as the CTS bass drivers the Kustom used, they sound great for guitar though! very smooth no spike in the high range at all.

well the last 3 days I took this cab apart! screw by screw, everything. cleaned every inch (qtips) cleaned every screw with metal cleaner and repaired some small tears..oh by the way to fix tears on black naugahyde I used this carseat repair kit and to my surprise it did a GREAT job (and i am very picky)
I removed the speakers, cleaned all dust, I removed the baffle board and steam cleaned it (made it like brand new) I made the chrome ports shine like the day they were made...put eveything back together...pluged in a K100 head (8 ohm) and my guitar and Holy S... this cab sounds amazeing for guitar..its also very very loud with just a K100 ,, Ill most likely never use it on a gig because its to big to lug around at my age (46) oh by the way this cab (does not) sound as good with bass guitar?)

Im looking at the kit right now and I cut the top of the box off were it said the name of it, but I will describe it ,you should find it
1st I think I bought this at walmart, the box say Vinyl and leather Repair kit , it looks like the part # on the box is 80902 VR-1A, in the kit it has 7 little round containers of different colors, I just followed the instruction and then I praticed on a scrap piece of naugahyde for a couple mins and then I tried it on a beatup tuck and roll cab...I couldnt believe it, it was great after a while I could fix a tear in 5 mins or less. when I was all done I added a little black shoe polish let it dry, polished it and then added a little armoural .
when I called my girl friend to take a look at it she was amazed
unless you got down on your hands and knees you couldnt see the fix!!!!! this cab I had, had rips that were 2-3 inches long..they are all gone!! it was so easy after a while. that I fixed every single rip or tear no matter how small.. I never thought this would work so good but it is great..
PS. I also have a great fix for sparkle cab fixes useing kids sparkle glue and clear finger nail polish
Hey Tweed,
Thanks alot for the info on the vinyl and leather repair kit, I'll have to go look for it.
Now, how about lettin' us in on your cure for fixing sparkle Kustom amps. Kids sparkle glue and clear finger nail polish?? I'm all eyes and ears!!!
Thanks Again!!

well I dont know about a cure? it doesnt work as good as the repair kit ..but I got a K150 off craigslist and there were some bad tears on the bottom front (blue sparkle) it was bad, padding comeing out of the naugahyde.. well I had to decide,, do I sell it cheap, keep for my kustom parts dept, or try to fix the unfixable.. well I always love to try to do whats not possible so.....
Go to walmart again, go to the fabric dept,(were they keep arts and crafts) they have whats called sparkle glue.
as soon as you see it you will know.. its a perfect Kustom tuck and roll sparkle. it comes in cascade, red, blue, gold, and charcoal but the carcoal is not perfect, the other colors will blow your mind (they are exact matches)!! like I said when you see them in walmart you wont miss them, I think (5) bottles are like 4 dollars, I also saw the same thing in the dollar store for 1 dollar.
I closed the rips with glue, (your choice) super, model airplane...etc.. made sure I pushed in the naug a little so there is a small dent.. filled in the dent with sparkle glue, let dry for 30 mins. and then put clear fingernail polish over it, and keep repeating this process until its level or the way you want it...if I get my digital cam working I will try to take pics ... fixing sparkle is alot harder than black.
I have a blue K100 in Mint condition, and I have a Blue K150 (the one I fixed) I place them side by side and... not bad...
the black naug repairs are very hard to tell were they were repaired!! Sparkle are much more difficult
