Just joined this league, but alas I don't have a clue how to use properly etc and their suitability for DJ work. (will be used with a pair of subs). A little help if you please.
Black T/R
the head model is K 150-5
s/n is 84782
Cabinets are s-39514 4X8"s
I haven't opened up backs of cabs yet. But am playing some music thru them PLenty of horsepower, quality seems good.. don't wanna push it yet.
Any ideas of year built, drivers (suspect they may eventually need to be replaced due to rot.)
Value? Not really concerned at this point, plan to put 'em to use.
Would like to get user manual to understand features etc.
If you can point me in the right direction, it would be grealy apriciated.

The K150-5 head serial number 84782 was made about May 1972.
The speaker cabinets were made about the same time frame.

If the speaker cutouts (measured from the front) are about 9 inches, then they are 10 inch speakers. The speakers are rear-mounted.

The output is 75 watts RMS at 8 ohms, so you don't want to push it too hard.
Minimum impedance I believe is 6 ohms.

If you are using a crossover and separate amp for your subs I would only send above 150 Hz (or higher) to the K150-5.
The Kustom PA columns are great for midrange, not too good for deep bass or high treble.

Let us know your specific questions and we will try to answer them.

These heads have a reverb pan lock down on the back, so if the reverb is non- operable check to see if the lock is screwed down. Also with age the foam rubber pad on the reverb lock plate falls off some times and jams up the reverb springs, the result, little or no reverb again.

Thanks for the info!
I assume that although there are 4 channels (with 2 each Inputs), there is only one amp presenting to the two sets of drivers? My first glance, I thought there might be 4 seperate amps-one per channel.
Thanks for the tip on reverb lock. Yep it still works.

Just openend up cabs. Drivers have info screened on:
5808322
137 720 16ohm
038-0012-00
They measure 8" diameter
Suitable replacements?

The exterior is near perfect with only small chuffs on head bottom and a couple on cab bottom corners. The full set of covers are good shape, with logos slightly faded.
Is there recommended method to repair small chuffs? - largest is dime sized.
As far as the head goes, is there a way to verify condition other than playing? and are there usual failure points to address?
Thanks all for you help, just wanna get these sounding as good as they look. and make sure they are reliable.

Those speakers are original CTS brand, Eminence brand stocked by parts express has a nice full range replacement 8" with a large 20 OZ magnet.
These heads are quite failure proof as long as you do not go much below their recommended output impeadance and crank it up loud.
You can try a automotive black interior repair kit, or black silicone calking and cut it off with a good single edge blade when its dry.

Thanks so much for all the info. I'll clean up the minor scuffs and watch the impedance.
These will bring alot of joy.
