Great idea. I install a gounded mains cable on all my kustom amps. K Mart sells a 15' appliance extention cord that is black and works great. Open up the amp and locate the power switch. Wire the white and black to where the original white and black wires were connected. There is a capacitor that connects to the switch and the other lead of the cap goes to ground. Connect the green ground wire from the new cable to the ground side of the capacitor, or you can just connect the green wire to the back of the chassis. The Kmart cord is only 5.69 and the # is A-2316-015-BL. Have fun. Don

Keith it is easy!!! Heck, even a GIRL (me) can do it!!!! It's well worth doing too! Just save the original cord, cuz people in the group will buy them from you if you get hard up for Kustom Kash $$$$.

Will this solve the "Radio Frequency Interference" problem? Will it make my 200B-1 "quieter"?

Gene, I don't know if there is any guarantee that a grounded cord will help your radio intereference, but it will take some of the low level hum out of the amp. It will keep you from getting a free perm job :-) otherwise known as electrocution, and that's well worth doing it. Deb

Deb, Thanks for the tip. I came across and printed out the step-by-step instructions that you had posted under "Repairs" (I think). It doesn't look too bad (famous last words). Maybe I'll give it a try during one of the upcoming cold winter days/nights..... Gene

I replaced 2 cords last weekend using her instructions, and it went just fine! I would recommend using a rat-tail file on the plastic cord-holder-thingie when you are installing the new, thicker cord. Takes 10 seconds, and the re-installation is easy! I'm trying to compile all these tips from here into a notebook. I'm learning a lot from the "locals"!

Yes, packerleap, a round file on the cord retainer is a better idea than using an exacto knife....and a lot safer! Good tip!
