I just a new problem solved with a few of my kustom amps. I have a k50 that would give out three loud pops every so often on the band stand, but would run fine at home. I would try another k50 on the band stand and have the same problem. The last gig I took a k100 with a 2x12 cabinet and friday night the amp worked great, saturday night the same popping problem was in the 100 amp. Turns out my cell phone was the cause of the popping. I have been trying to figure out for some time now. Looking back, I alsways had set my phone on my amp. I guess the phone is always searching for a siginal and the popping was the phone doing it's thing. Never to old, to learn something new. Don

Yeah Don, as we disussed on the way to pick up that gold 100 set--my cellphone does not cohabitate well with any of my amps. Heck, I had to move my charge base to the other end of the house, out of my jam room, because of the popping and crackling noises that it would make when it was cycling through the charge cycles. I've even found that my cell phone will mess up my computer. So, I say the best place to set that cell phone is no where near your Kustoms. If you do that and you get some popping or crackling, then I'd be checking those boards with a magnifying glass for some solder breaks around the big orange- drop caps and other areas. Deb

I was recording a demo tape a couple of years ago and I found that an electric fence can also cause a pulse or pop..... not just in Kustoms...but all the gear in the room. The fence charger was a half mile away...but the fence ran about 10 feet away from the building. Something for us rural folks to think about. BC

I was jammin with my K-200-B3 with my cell phone on top of the amp. Well, when somebody called me on the cell phone, my amp just sounded like it took a s@?#!!!. The whole room stopped and looked at my amp (how embarassing)! Upon the second ring I could barely hear the phone and answered it. Moving it about 5-6 feet away the amp seemed unaffected by the phone. The amp also picks up some radio stations on occasion. Can attaching the chassis to the ground wire of a 3-conductor line cord eliminate the RF problems?

It can't hurt to try! That and the 3 prong grounded cord may save your life! See the other postings where we discuss that. Don't be afraid to put one on the head, it's EASY!!!!
