Welcome to the site. Your SC K100 is 50 watts rms or 100 watts peak power. The amp originally came with a 8 ohm speaker from the factory. I'd make sure when you change speakers to get a 8 ohm. Kustoms will run fine with a higher impedance, but I don't recommend running a lower impedance speaker that what the amp wants. Interesting combination, pedal steel and bass guitar. A lot of guys really like the Altec 421A speaker for those amps.

I totally agree with pleat, the 8 ohm 421A is the ideal speaker. 15 inches of solid gold tone and a frequency responce down to 30 HZ make it "MUCHO VERSITAL" in any low wattage amp 100 watts or less. I'd be affraid of high wattage speakers because of added structural weight of the heavier cone, heavier voice coil and added magnetic structure to deal with at 50 watt RMS. That will hurt you in efficiency. I would think more like a low wattage high efficency speaker replacement with a wide frequency responce like Jensen P15N or C15N or a JBL "F" series like the
D130F and my favorite the Altec 421A. I have that Amp with the Altec 421A and it sounds fantastic!! Steve C
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INFO. I DID MY RESEARCH AND VIA THE VINTAGE ADVERTS ON THIS SITE I FOUND THESE AMPS AND THE 150 SERIES SC, ORIGIONALLY CAME WITH A CTS OR THE 421 A. ALSO 8 OHMS OR MORE = LESS STRESS ON THE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER. I HEEDED YOUR ADVICE AND FOUND A 421 A VIA DUSTYS SPEAKERS ON EBAY NEWLY PAINTED AND RECONED FOR $169 + shipping. freq range 35 to 8k wow super full range .150 watts rms @ 8 ohm. wow should be great for bass guitar, and pedal steel ulta high and low notes.plus i have the satisfaction of knowing i have the exact same sound we geezers remember.another beautiful black t&r lives, thanks guys gary fallon, tampa bay,

Hello and welcome!
The Altec driver will make you very happy and you got it for a good price.
One thing I must mention though, Solid State amps do not have a output transformer for impeadance matching so thats why having the proper ohmage speaker is so critacle to the output stages life no less the amps output wattage.
thanks for the correction ,im such a tube man, transistors just deal with the load ,lets see i got this amp for $180 and speaker for $190 inc shipage for $370 any way you look at it i got a gem.great site.,gary fallon tampa bay
