Last week I finally got tired of wrestling with the power cord on a K200B-1 I have been using. One of the cord wraps had been removed sometime in the last 40 years and the cord was always in the way. I had one cord wrap I had acquired who knows where and decided to remedy the situation. Then I thought while I was at it I might as well go to the three wire power cord to improve safety. A quick call to Pleat for guidance and I had it installed in about 10 minutes. The results were more than I expected. Some of the HISSSSSS went away and the amp is louder and the tone is fatter! Filter caps next! BC Cool

If all of those improvements happened after a new power cord was put in place, then its a good thing you did that as the amps was running on the minimum amout of current that it could pull from the wall socket due to the male end about to totally fail!

Steve as you know, I am a player with out a technical bone in my body. I would say you are on it! I wonder how many of my other amps would benefit from a fresh power line. It is an easy mod that everyone should do. Now, as ET says, I can "Play Loud" BC Cool

Who or what is Pleat? I have the same issue. It's gotta be an easy fix but I still want to do it right. I posted in the repair? section of the forum with a similar issue. This is my first time on this board.

Install the same way that you remove the old one. and take the green wire (green is ground world around) and ground it to the chassis at on of the bolts. There will also be a resistor in the area of the switch that you need to remove. It will have a really nice jug on one end that goes to a bolt and you can use it for your ground lug, just solider your ground wire to it. That is how I do all of mine.

Also Pleat is a very knowledgeable member of this site. If you want to post pics, you are going to have to get a photo bucket account or cloud account to upload photo's so you can get a link to post here for where they are stored.

Okay your info. is awesome. I think I'm almost ready. One question. I have located the resistor you're talking about. Do I remove it completely? Not sure what you meant by"jug" I see the bolt you want me to ground my new cord to. Is it that easy? Cool.

it is LUG with a L that the resistor is soldiered to and goes around the bolt. Yes remove the resistor and toss it. The lug is like a silver washer that is egg shaped big hole for the bolt and small hole for the wire.

Cool and you found the lug that I was talking about? They are much safer after getting a proper ground on them for sure......they will knock you on your arse if you aren't careful when you go to sing and your wet lip hits the mic screen.....even will leave a mark in your shorts sometimes....lol! Great that you got it done. I forgot to tell you that sometimes you have to file out the plastic chord retainer so it will hold a cable that is a little larger, that makes it a little easier to put back together. Great that you got them done!
