Hello, I need help dating my Kustom bass head and cabinet, model # 2-15J-1, Serial # 19197. It is blue, with 2 Jensen 15s in it. Any idea on it's value? I'd like to think I got a reasonable deal on it. Thanks

What is the head. does it have 4 control knobs on each channel, or 3 as that would make it a K200A or the latter 200 B model?

If it has 4, what is the serial nuumber on the back of the head if the steel tag is still rivited on.

If the speaker cabinet truly still has its original Jensen speakers, than that is a guitar cabinet.
There are really no Bass Kustom heads per say, they are just non effect type heads.

You have a early K200A-1 head with a 2x15 Jensen Cabinet. The early model numbers that are found in the 67/68 catalog on the site lists the 2-15J-1. The 2 indicats two speakers, the 15 indicates the size of the speakers and the J indicates it came with Jensen speakers and the -1 is a basic two channel no effects amp head.
What's it worth? Hard to say, color and condition are really important, covers still with it? Does your cabinet have the alumimun port tubes or just the port holes behind the grill cloth? Have you inspected the speakers to verify the Jensens are still in the cab or have replacemens been installed?
Casters and handles still in good shape? All this will play into the worth and because of it's size, it is usually more of a local sale than shipping.

If the original Jensen speakers are still to be found in the cabinet they will have a 6 diget date code on the mounting lip of the driver, and it will start with 220.
The next number will be the year and the following two numbers with be the week of the year,so 822 would be the twenty second week of 1968.
These C15L model 15" drivers are pretty rare in the muciscal instrument/ amp world and are the top of line in the concert serise of speakers that Jensen made back then.
You can play bass thru them as they where the latter model of bass drivers that Hammond organ used in there Leslie rotating cabinets.
The serisl number places the amps birth in 1967.

The cabinet has the alum ports, casters are good, handles are good, one wrong knob on the head, overall condition of the roll-and-tuck material is good, one minor cut on the head about an inch long, no covers. Colour is good. As for the speakers, they look similar to the Jensens I have in my 147 and 122 Leslies, but the serial numbers do not correspond with those you listed above. Each speaker has a top 6digit number and a bottom 6digit number.
Top speaker, 043828 and below it 328037. Bottom speaker, 043828 and below it 328148. I paid $600 dollars for this rig and it sounds awesome. How do I send a couple of pictures?

Well you may have over spent since it does not have the original drivers.
The Jensen code of 6 digets, like I posted starts with 220 very time, the 328 starting code that you posted are utah drivers and are not orignal to the cabinet.
I would ohm check each driver and check to see if its 8 ohms, or 16.
If they are 8 ohms they should be wired in parrallel so the amp will output its full power, even though from the factory they would have been 16 ohm drivers and and wired in parrallel.

Thanks for the info. At the bare minimum I know the year of manufacture now. It still looks cool and sounds great, even if it doesn't have the original drivers. Now where can I get a replacement knob for the head?

Small bear electronics if I recall had them, I think it was listed as there synth #5 pointer or something like that.
I would chuck them a email and see if they still have any, or check E bay.
Raido shack has a very close one I have seen and if you put up a post in this sites wanted section, a member may have a original one to part with for ya.
Enjoy the new baby!

I bought a bunch the last time small bear had them I believe they were like .40 each and are exact copies. Just replace them all and that will freshen it up very nice.
