Hey there- I'm wondering if using old english or any type of furniture polish is an advised method to go about cleaning the grill cloth on a T&R cab. Thanks

No! Anything like that will only make harder to get it clean and also make it more prone to dust and dirt to stick to it even more!
Scrubbing the grill with a new dish towel wet with some dish washing soap is about the best way to start off, just do not make it too wet with water that it will drip onto the speakers.
Scrub it 2 or 3 times and then let it dry and then see how it looks.
If you can use a light colored towel so you can see if you are pulling off dirt.
Some Oxi clean spray added to the water will help a bunch also
Most times this is dust and smoke film and will mostly come off with enough effort , but sometimes you need to just replace it or pull the whole baffle out and take it to self serve car wash to blast the crap off!

Depending on what you're trying to get off, you might be surprised by what can be "cleaned" or covered up by using a tooth brush, or maybe even a larger brush, and Armor All. Spray brush or a rag to get saturation without spraying inside the cab, then work in with the brush. I've gotten amazing results doing this. Good luck.

Thanks to you both. To me it seems to be a buildup of dust. It does not have the stench of smoke so I'm ruling that out. I will try both methods though. Thanks again!

I found the best way to clean the grill cloth, if its really dirty or stained, is to pull the grille panel out and remove the speakers. Like Pleat suggests, hose it down or car wash. I also spray it with Clorox Cleanup, let is sit a couple of minutes and then scrub it with a soft brush. If it has some stains on it, after it dries and if it is the "BLACK" cloth without the silver in it, I shoot it with a lite fog of gloss black. My grille cloths look like brand new now and I see no difference in the color. Make sure you use the spray paint that is used for vinyl and fabric......otherwise it might be tacky and not dry properly.

Best way is to remove speakers, pull the baffle board out. Spray with Simple Green or similar. Let it sit a few minutes and then use a power washer to rinse completely, front and back. Let it dry in the sun. This procedure is complements of pleat.

If you use simple green be sure to have rubber gloves on as it will start to remove layers of skin rather fast!

I personally don't use Simple Green. I remove the speakers and baffle board, head to the car wash and use their power wash and rinse. Once done, I go the car vacuum and remove excess water and then stand up and let dry in the sun. Using the car wash idea, it gets all the dust and dirt from the speaker openings and the wood ledges that support port tubes and name badge. 3.00 to 5.00 and about an hour to clean a 3x15 cab.

I always dilute the Simple Green, no problems. If you have a pressure washer use it, or as pleat says use the car wash.
