I have had this amp since about 1972. It has sat in the closet for most of those years. I got it out a couple months ago and was playing the guitar connected to the amp. It was doing fine when all at once I strummed across the strings and it went dead. Opening it up the fuse was blown (why in God's name they solder the fuses in is beyond me, they surely must have had fuse holders back then).

Anyway I put a new fuse in and it blew immediately. Is it possible to get a schematic of these things and/or does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing the fuses to blow?

The amp has Kustom
100
on the front.

The plate on the back says:
Kustom
CHANUTE, KANSAS
MODEL K 100 8
SERIAL NO. 44853
PAT. NO. 210, 129

Welcome to the place.

If you go to the technical section of this site, you will find the schematics for your amp, which I assume is a K100C-8 a combo style amp.

The fuses were soldered in because when one blows, it usually means that there is something that need to be repaired. This kept the unqualified from hurting themselves or the amp.

The usual causes for a blown fuse are shorted transistors and shorted rectifier diodes.

I don't know what your skill set is, but if you are going to try and fix this yourself please be aware of the dangers of working on any line powered device. Use extreme caution when working on an amp that is plugged into the wall outlet and please refer the repair to a qualified tech if it is beyond your abilities.

That being said are you planning to fix this yourself? What sorts of test equipment and tools do you have available?

Again welcome.
