Hey guys I need some advice on a 250 that has all the effects on it for guitar. The fuzz effect does not work and channel 2 is totally dead. The guy is asking $200 for it and does not have the foot pedal. I was wondering if this is something worth maybe buying and repairing or should I just walk away from it? Was thinking maybe it might be something as simple as the Molex plug with a bad connection. Any thoughts?
It's blue and in fair condition. How hard would it be to build a footswitch for this since I have never seen one the market in the past year?
Thought if I got it that there is also a 4 X 12 cabinet in the area as well in blue and maybe eventually I could pick up another somewhere. Would make a nice guitar setup for someone and wouldn't break the bank.

It's not hard to build a foot switch even if you want to have indicator LED in it like a factory one, but if you do not mind one with out the LEDs tha Antique electronics has many different types of them and all you need to do is cut of and swap the end to what you need for a connector .
I think they even carry a aluminum cased one that would be like the original pretty much!

The lighted footswitches used the same 335 bulb. Schematic shows 12V power and 330 ohm to ground. Also a 1N5359AA diode to ground from the +12V.
Depending on the age of the K250-4 amp, it may be a newer chassis that used the two seperate 1/4" stereo footswitch jacks rather than the older model that has the 6 pin XLR footswitch jack.

I thought the 335 lamps were 28 volts......but your saying its 12 volts to the footswitch? Why not just use 12 volt LED light then? Keeping things original isn't me you already know that. I'm for functional and improvements.
The 335 lamps are 28 volts, and that's what the original footswitches used. If you want to use leds go ahead. Pleat was just telling you what the original design used.
The original switches were large cast aluminum things, that were about the size of a modern multi-effect box. Maybe 18-20 inches wide. Each section had a hinged activator panel, kinda like a Boss pedal, that pushed the actual mechanical switch underneath it. Above the actuator panel was a backlit name panel that would light up when the effect was turned on. If you search the web, you will probably find a photo somewhere that will make it easier to understand.
Additionally there was a wah pedal that plugged in to control the Selective Boost circuit.

If you choose to built it with LEDs you need to use a current limit resistor in series so that it does not burn out!
Go on line and do a search for the details and how to do the simple math.
Think I will just pay you to build it for me.....least then I know it would be done right. What about the wah wah pedal? Could just a regular pedal be used or is something else required instead?
If you search on the board here, there was a guy that was making wah pedals from volume pedals. You can make your own, you just need a pedal with the correct pot and a three wire stereo 1/4" cable.
