Wanted to have my math checked. I have another 495 cabinet with the 4 16 ohm speakers in it. One of the speakers is toast and the other 3 are still functional but are worn. I was wondering if for now if I could replace the blown speaker with an 8 ohm one so the cabinet would at least be functional. Eventually I will switch the cabinets over to all 8 ohms speakers but looking at my options. To repair the speaker it will cost $55 plus shipping. New ones sell for $25. If I wire the new 8 ohm in series/parallel the cabinet will now be an 14 ohm cabinet....correct?
I haven't been able to find an 8 inch speaker in 16 ohms other than a 15 watt guitar speaker.
I didn't think the amp would over heat since one cabinet is only 16 ohms and the other would be around 14, my total load is still more than 4 total. The 8 ohm speak will produce more sound than the other 3 16's correct?

Yes, it's lower resistance will allow more power thru it so it will be louder, but twice as much power going in does not mean it will be truly twice as loud!
Thanks, that is what I thought would happen. Just a temporary fix until the other speakers finally crap out. Glue is all that is holding the others together since they are so worn.
