Guys there is this K-250-4 head for sale. It is not from a forum member here at all. It is at a music store in a different state than I live in. They claim everything is working on it. What would be a good price to pick up this one for. Color they claim is Goldish. All the knobs are on it and the power button is there and working. I have been looking for one and hate to let this on pass by if it can be had reasonable. I know it is a gamble not being able to check it out myself but there is also a return policy, so not all bad...

Well since its "goldish" it was originally silver. A lot depends on the condition of the T&R, whether all the effects actually work, if all the knobs are there and if the switches light up. Normally one in good condition here in the Midwest goes anywhere from $150 to $300. These show up frequently on ebay or Craigslist around here so the most I have ever paid was $200. If it has some problems as far as buzzing or no reverb, I wouldn't give more than $100 for it. Guitar Center is a good place to watch to get a feel for what equipment is actually worth. If it has the foot switch, buy it no matter what the condition of the amp is. Those are next to impossible to find and worth more than the amp.

Another thing that I have learned......pay for it with a credit card. If its not what they said it was or something they claimed worked but doesn't, you now have a way to dispute the purchase. Most times the seller will not waste time paying to have it returned and just tell you to keep it. I have two amps now that cost me nothing. Paypal is a joke so don't wait for them to pay you back......90 days after the fact is too long to wait.

Yea I am just trying to decide if I should wait for a complete unit with the speaker arrangement I want, or try to piece a good unit together. The color isn't exactly my main concern right now as you could get another cabinet you liked and just change out the guts. There is no foot pedal with this one...I asked that first....It does have the old pin connector for the big foot pedal. They said it only has one spot on top with a cig burn that is a bb size.

Most of the time you'll find its cheaper to put together a system then to buy a complete one unless of course it's in mint condition. Look at some of the outrageous prices on ebay for complete Kustom setups. These people are clueless.......even if its in mint condition....and most are not, they are no way worth $1200 to $1600 that they are asking.

This kind of equipment is always popping up for sale, so shop around until you find what your looking for at a reasonable price. There's nothing worse than buyers remorse. Good hunting. Smile

How much did it set you back? I bought the same one only in blue for $150. The effects are pretty sweet.

I paid $299 for the unit. After it arrives is when I will know if it was a good deal or not. I have a good friend here that is well versed on Kustom amps. Hopefully he will give it the thumbs up.. I do have the option of returning it. It came from a Guitar Center, so if I have to return it, I would just have to bring it to my local GC. The shipping was free, so I would not be out anything if it is not what they say. Now being vintage I only have 72 hours to decide if I want it after it arrives. Here in MN these just do not pop up as often as some of the other models. Now if I do keep it, my search will be on for the taller speaker cab with the two 15"s and one cast horn. Hint!!!Hint!!!

The game will be a foot once more

There's two in Kentucky but they are asking $1000.....only worth $400 in my opinion. I'm looking for another one as well but are few and far between. The one I snagged was only $75 but I did travel 4 hours one way to get it. I need the additional cabinet for my stereo K-400 amp with all the same effects. I did acquire a 4-12's cabinet in blue the same time I got my K-250 like yours. Now I'm looking for another similar cabinet so I can stack them. Funny thing, I don't play guitar anymore and don't even own one! Got the Kustom bug pretty bad. Guess my collection will be my nest egg.......that or I need to invest in a cheap guitar.... lol.

There were 2 in Tennessee for $1000.00 that no one bid on.

That's the one I was thinking of. I did offer him $500 for the pair but he turned me down. They have been listed for about a year now so maybe someday soon he will get hungry enough to sell them at a reasonable price.
