Anyone know the ohm rating on the non T&R 4-12L bass cabinets? Guy says the back is open on these cabinets and on the speakers it says 8/16 ohms. Any ideas? I know the newer models are 4 ohm cabinets.

The IV-4L is not a bass a cabinet. The L designates it as a Lead cabinet. The IV-L has 4-12 inch speakers. Each speaker is 8 ohm, and each pair are wired in parallel for 4 ohms. The cabinet has two output jacks for the IV Lead amp that uses two 138 watt power amps.

The IV-4LS (Stack Cabinets) uses four 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel for 4 ohm each cabinet. Two stacked cabinets give each amp in the IV Bass amp the correct impedance.

Thanks Pleat........I don't really care about the cabinet per say but was wanting the speakers. I thought it was a guitar cabinet anyway and the guy at GC didn't have a clue. I could rewire the cabinet in parallel/series to make it a 8 ohm cabinet.....right?

Not knowing the cabinet series. If they say the speakers are 8-16, They are probably 12 ohms. Kustom started using the 12 ohm speaker in the 1971 slant face model amps.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of buying, just giving my opinion on the bare information that was given to you.
Being involved with Kustoms for so many years, I need to see for myself what speakers are in any kustom cabinet to know for sure.

I appreciate your honesty. The guys at GC are all but useless on this stuff....guy didn't even know what tuck and roll was! Price was right and just hoped I could use it with the 8 ohm 4-12L cabinet I already have. I'll hold out till I find another one like it or a cabinet with 10's or 12's that is 8 ohms. Don't need anymore cabinets sitting around here that I really don't need.
