If the cabinet still still has its stock speakers it should be wired for a 4 ohm load ( two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel ) which is also what the head is looking for to output its maximum wattage.
The amp should not be run on anything less than a 4 ohm load unless you play it at only low volumes, higher loads like 8 or 16 ohms are ok but then head will only output half its available clean wattage at 8 ohms and 1/4 that at 16 ohms.

Bit confusing, your post said "Kustom II-Lead 1976 amp and 2x15 cabinet 1976" but your question stated the Kustom II-Bass head????
If the amp head is the two channel no effects and is marked II-B then the amp is for 60 watts rms and 8 ohm speaker cabinet.
Kustom didn't offer a Kustom II-L lead model in a piggyback head in the silver face era amps. The II-L amp uses the same power amp as the II-B amp. 60 watts @ 8 ohms.
The Lead III and Bass III silver face amps are 130 watts at 4 ohm total loads.

Pleat, it should state on the rear panel by the speaker jacks the impedance needs no?
I used to have a owners manual for the III series amps and that's what I seem to recall!

Yes, your right the lead and bass III models are 130 watt at 4 ohms. I think the post was referring to either a II-B model which would have been sold with a single 15" 8 ohm cabinet. Kustom didn't make a II-L lead model head. Just a combo 2x12 model and that amp used two 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel for the 8 ohm total load.
But after 35+ years, no telling that someone may have converted a II-L into a piggyback.
So we do have some confusion as to what the post is really referring to. So if he has the II-B head and driving the 2x15 cabinet from the same silver face era amps and the cabinet still has the original speakers, the cabinet would be the 4 ohm cab you mentioned earlier.
