i just bought a very clean k50-2. i think its about 1971.
has original kustom speaker with sticker that reads "remanufactured by kustom 8-16 ohm." looks like lots of glue under the magnet, perhaps it fell off at one time. sounds ok with my les paul but sounds better with my bass guitar plugged in there.
i have some vintage ampegs too.
kool amp.
and i got it for 60 bucks!

Congrats on the amp!
Magnets don't just fall off as they are riveted or bolted on, I am actually very surprised that a 25 watt RMS would have blown its speaker, but if you keep playing Bass thru it then it could take place again!

i think i will upgrade the speaker; but i'm only playing at low volume so i'm not concerned.
yes i'm aware that magnets are secured w/ screws but i have seen one on a large PA speaker break off when the speaker cab was dropped on its back...and this one has glue slathered all over beneath the magnet; and reads"remanufactured by kustom"

anyways...pretty cool amp. i dont like it much for guitar but for bass it sounds fantastic.

Yes, these amps do not have much treble to them , but a lot of mids as they use a very different tone stack then other Kustom amps, in fact this past spring I modded one for a fellow who wanted big Tele type counrty top end and I was able to tame the mids a lot which gave the impression of more top end.
These amps do not have much power so be sure to pick a speaker with a SPL rating of 96 db or better and rated for less than 100 watts.

That's a good pick of a speaker , and yes 8 ohms.
