Hoping someone here can help me out. Just purchased my childhood guitar amp head, Silvertone 1465. I can't find any information as to the ohms on this thing. I know it originally came with the (6) 10 inch Jensen speakers and assume they were 25 to 30 watts each. I have a Kustom slant 2-15's cabinet that I am going to redo with 15 inch woofer, 2-10 inch midrange, and a horn and crossover. Anyone got any idea's what the ohms of this amp might have been? I've Googled but can't kind anything other than a place to purchase a schematic for the head.

The speakers were wired in series parallel. Three 8 ohm speakers in parallel give you 2.67 ohms. The two sets in series give you 5.34 ohms total.

I would imagine that a 4 ohm load would work well.

Thanks Bill, I wasn't sure exactly what the ohms might have been since I kind of remember there were a few amps back then that were 6 ohms as well.

Be carefull with that amp as if I recall right the heat sinks on the rear that mount each output Transistor are sitting at power supply voltage , so for instance if you drop or touch a 1/4" steel cased speaker jack across the heat sink and the chassis you will short out the power supply!
These amps where rated at 150 watts , but that was peak power as back then with the Transistors of the day there was no way in Hell that two output Transistors where going to make 150 watts!
It's does however use a 5 amp fuse which I find a tad high for safety!

The good thing about those 6-10" cabs is that they stiffen up those crappy 1/4" Masonite baffle board that Dan Electro used , the baffle on my 2-12" 1484 amp with only 35 watts RMS flaps around a lot!
