Hi I have a k100c-7 slant face amp and it randomly stops outputing signal. almost everytime this has occured the amp is on and resting an it hen just stops hissing. indicator light is on i turn off then on and no thump. wait a while and then it pops back on.

i do slam some pedals into it but it usaully cuts out when nothing is being played. it has a pretty big thump. FIlter caps gone bad?

Thanks Nate

I had the same amp and issue. I found that the CR902 diode on the power amp board had slipped out of it's clip. the diode snaps into a retaining clip on the frame that the power transistors are mounted on. Once the amp cooled down a bit, the amp would work, then fade out. Clipped the diode into it's mounting clip and has ran ever since without fail.

Just a thought.

If the amp pilot lamps stay lit and it's just the sound that dies out, then I'd check the speaker and the wiring for loose connections or broken solder joints.

If both channels are cutting out and you have another amp around take the signal out of the amps monitor jack, if that signal cuts out too when the Kustom craps out then you have a issue on the PC 900 driver/ power amp board.

My first guess on this issue would be a bad solder connection, or that first input Transistor ( Q900) is going intermittent.

Also make sure the Blue wire that feeds the speaker output jack has good connections ar both ends.

Hopefully it will be a easy fix like what Bill told you to check, let us know what you find.

Once again a question, are both channels cutting out?
