The reverb tank in my amp has a broken transducer. I want to replace the tank with a new one. I have read MANY opinions on which one to use. Would like to know which one is recommended to swap it out. Ohm readings on the cables are 177 and 182 ohms. I have other tanks on other amps I have replaced and the ohm reading on those are totally different than this one. Example 1450 and 2240 ohms. I can not find any replacements with the 177-182 ohm options. What am I missing. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the joint!
If you would like to you can send me that tank and I can fix it for you so the amp can stay original.

Yes, welcome!

The thing that may be confusing you is the difference between the impedance ratings of the transducers and the dc resistance of the transducer coils. Kustom tanks use a high impedance input transducer so the dc resistance of the coil will be around 200 ohms.

The normal Accutronics type will be a 4FB type tank that has an input impedance of around 1500 ohms and an output transducer impedance of 2250 ohms. The dc resistance of the transducers will be around 180-200 ohms.

You also need to be sure that the new tank has the correct grounding of the RCA jacks or the tank may not work correctly.

Personally, I do not like the sound of modern tanks. They sound too rich, deep and full compared to the old tanks. It's not that the new tanks are bad, it's just that I've become accustomed to the bright, splashy sound that I grew up with. So I would fix the old tank if possible or replace it with an old one, but that's just me.

Again, welcome to the place!
