last night - i ran it through the cab for my silvertone 1484, just cuz i had to hear, but i don't have a cab for it yet. i'm gonna go check the shops around town this weekend - i know nashville used music has a black 2x12 TnR (8ohm - 100watt) for sale in good cond. so i might go that route. do you know what the actual impedance of this amp is? i m guessing 8 ohms - but that's purely speculation. do u have any cabinet recomendations? i was also looking at getting a cab from avatar - but for another head i own ...

You should try to get a 4 ohm cabinet if possible. The K200 can run at 4 or 8 ohms. Output is about 60 watts at 8 ohms and 100 watts at 4 ohms.

is there any noticeable difference in tone between the two? i have another head running at 8 ohms and i would like to use the same cab, if possible. besides, 100 watts probably exceeds any needs i will have ...

The main difference is volume - not tone. But some people do notice a difference in tone - so you might notice that the sound is "tighter" at 8 ohms as compared to 4 ohms.

cool - i appreciate everyone's help. so what about cab reccomendations. like i said, i know of one for sale locally (TnR, that is), but it doen't match and that kinda turns me off and i wanna get something soon rather than wait forever to find a matching cab. what are you guys using with your heads? i might very well get an avatar 4x12, but haven't made up my mind yet.

Speaking of heads and ohms, I have a 66' 745PA (best tone I've ever had and I'm comparing it with some vintage tube amps! Anyway I'm playing it through a 2x10 black tolex 70's pa column. It's about 3 ft tall and about 12" wide. The speakers are cts and say 8-16 ohm. They have Kustom stickers and cts #'s as well as Kustom #'s. The speakers were wired in series but I re-wired them parallel. I checked with my ohm meter set at 10x and they measured just under 1 ohm leading me to believe them to be 8 ohm. I read a post and the description fit my cab and speakers but were determined to be 6 ohm. My question is what does 8-16 refer to because if series 2 8 ohm speakers would equal 16 ohms but in parallel 4 ohms. If they are 6 in parallel thats 3 ohms and 12 in series. The amp likes to see 4 ohms I've heard but could it handle 3? Anybody out there?/ jimi

Forgot to ask in my rambling, does anybody know what the wattage of those 10 inch 8-16s would be? I figured they must be 40 watts. Does that make sense? Thanks fellow Kustom nuts!

checked out a kustom 2x12 this weekend - pretty much mint, but black. i am sure the speakers are original, but i wasn't about to take off the 20-some screws on the back to find out. asking $200, so could probably end up getting it for cheap. salesmen crack me up - the line of shit this guy was trying to feed me was incredible - according to that guy, the cab would be gone by the time i ate breakfast this morning. wait, didn't i first see it there over a month ago ...

I would'nt mind having a 2x12 cab at all since I don't have one.

Yes, we are all using tuck and roll.....sometimes a tube rig will find its way on stage but it is only an addition to the Kustoms......and those guys are learning and getting more attached as we progress. Last night we loaded a 3x15 with Jensens for guitar use......it sounds GREAT! I think our next Nashville job is early June......hope to see you there!BC
