Hello all! I'm pretty new here and with Kustom stuff in general, so I was hoping I might get some decent answers here.

I just purchased a gold Tuck N Roll 3x15 cab, and the last owner says that at least one or two of the speakers are blown. I haven't opened it up myself yet, so I'm not sure what speakers are currently inside, but I'm hoping to use it for bass, as I currently use a TNR K200 head as my main amp. I'm looking for advice/suggestions on what speakers I should get to replace the current/broken ones and what to look out for.

Thanks!

Hello.
The speaker jack plate will be marked for what speakers it has.

If labelled CTS those are for bass.

If labeled Jensen those are for guitar.

If labeled Altec or JBL then they could be for guitar or bass and you will have to open up the cab to find out.

If they are CTS then you could send the bad ones out to get them re-coned or you could order  new driver from parts express.

There model 290-419 is what you want because is a 16 ohm driver .
All 3 speakers should 16 ohms and wired in parallel for the needed  5.3 ohm load on your K200 amp.

Getting the back off the cab can be a pain .

If you take all the screw out and it will not drop off then set the cab on its back with one end supported off the floor
A little and then place a long but narrow piece of wood down into one of the ports to beat on with a hammer and drive it out some.

Be careful when doing this because you do not want the back to drop off too far as the wires going to the jack plate are not all too long.

Plan on not having the back drop off more then 4” at first.

Also if you had to pound the back off it’s due to the age of the sealer Kustom used, with age it turns into a very sticky black goop that is very hard to get of your hands or anything else that it gets on, you’ve been warned!

Also note that the internal wood support across the back does not fully span from side to side and that is the way they where made and not a defect.
