K150 - soft clean, loud distortion [message #6070]

Hey Kustom guys,

It's been a while since I posted anything, but I hadn't had any problems till now. I've got a K150 with the slanted front and metal front. It's got reverb and tremelo on it. Well, the other day I was jamming on it and I switched my distortion off and noticed that the volume seemed low, then I hit the distortion again and it's back to super loud. While clean there is no hum, static, or any other weird sound. It's just that the volume is low except when a distortion pedal is on.
I opened it up and didn't see anything burned, melted, or charred. So I don't know what's up with it. Anybody got any ideas?

Hello. It sounds like it may be something with your pedal. Did you try plugging straight into the amp at all? It's possible that the bypass circuit on your pedal may be screwed up a bit. Good luck!

Do both channels act the same, if not than you may have damaged the the first gain stage in the channel you where playing thru . these amps where not designed to have the input be driven very hard, thats why they offered their own built in distortion. In the future you should use the second input of what ever channel you are in.

yeah, i tried plugging it in straight from the guitar w/o a pedal and it sounds the same(lowered volume) and both channels, both inputs. so i'm still stuck.
