kasino pa system [message #642] Sat, 09 June 2001 20:15 Go to next message

Can anyone tell me about a Kasino concert II pa system? I recently acquired one; it has two stacks: a horn and two 12"'s apiece, and a 6 channel mixer. One of the horns needs to have its tweeter replaced. How much would that cost. Also, do you have to get speaker cables, or will a guitar patch cord do the job?

Yes, you need to get and use speaker cables! Do NOT use guitar vords for that.

It sounds like you have a blue face kasino pa head and the 2-12H cabinets. The amp is 125 watts rms, 7 band graphic equalizer, 6 channels with high z inputs. It's around the 72 era. The amp head is modeled after the kustom 3 PA head. I would have to check, but I'd bet the circuit boards are the same. You should use non sheilded cables for speaker cords. Sheilded audio cables are not a wise choice for speaker runs, as the center conductor is smaller in diameter and mass of the braided shield. High current running through a guitar cable can actually melt the center conductor through it's insulator and short to the sheild of the cable and then you have real amp problems. You want the most volume and clairity from the system and let the amp work as cool as possible, and one way to do that is keep speaker cable lengths short and non sheilded. On the blown driver, I would take it to a speaker reconing service. You can check the yellow pages in your area, or maybe some one can lead you to one in your area. The circuit shop in Kentwood Mi. would be the closest one to me. Don
