every now and then I hear about and personally experience a moment when my kustoms rise above the crowd and prove their durability.. Last night was one of those..at practice with this band thats gonna be doing the arena gigs.. we were running at volume as we are in the final tune up stages of our practice sessions.. I had taken my old, oldest 595 frank head and no port 2x15 cab just cause I wanted to and I knew it would handle the volume levels I wanted last night..the bassist was running on his SWR mighty bass rig...well halfay into the night his amp starts trippin the thermal..his little compression light is just nailing on...and the amp keeps folding..finally not coming back up at all...so with a casual smile I motion him to plug into my spare channel on my old amp...my 30 plus yr old, solid state tacky ol kustom amp...which by his confession sounds better than his SWR anyway..not to mention, my amp works! Proud to own it.
Second story goes back about 5 years ago.. I'm doing a big outdoor stadium event.. a rare one that was not sponsored so I got to bring my own rigs. I had tagged my Marshall JCM900 for the task but also had a couple tunes where I could justify a bit of kustom and frankly wanted the amp on stage with me regardless..it was an important gig and I always take some tuck n roll...this time it was my little K25 sitting on top of a 2x12 cab.. my favorite all time little stack. It was a blistering summer day with no cover on stage and you could feel the hairs smoldering on your head..part way through the gig my drummer yells at me about the time my guitar goes out and I look around to see the MArshall puff a little bit of smoke..sure sign that a filter cap had just blown its top... so there I am with 8,000 plus folks and my main amp has folded...the tuck n roll on my little 1x12 kustom is as soft as butter as the sun threatens to melt us all into blobs of jello..I reached over and turned the little amp up to its limits and for the next 2 hours I proceeded to ask it to handle full duty meant for a 100 watt rig..this is a never been serviced rig that I got in '69 and time and time again she does me so proud.

I love my little blue K25C-2 too! They really kick butt! They are definetely not to be under-estimated. Kustoms do save the day! And, I do believe in their mystical healing abilities........
