Hi all, I bought a Kustom 200 PA head recently. The first 3 channels are very very weak but the 4th channel seems to work as it should and produces full volume. The amp "thumps" properly at turn on and all the requisite background hiss seems to be there also. Reverb is working. Am I safe in assuming the 6 big output tranistors are working properly given that channel 4 works as it should? (i.e. all channels share the same output transistors?. Should I start replacing transistors on the other channels if i want them to work? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not a tech by any means, but can solder very nicely.
Also: The amp came in bare wood without the tuck n roll cover! I know of places to buy the zodiac naugahyde, but does anyone know of a vendor selling ready-made tuck n roll covers for these heads??

Welcome Brian!
Yes you can assume that the power amp and power supply are working fine, if one of the channels work.
If you have access to a voltmeter, check the voltages on the non-working boards and compare them to the voltages on the working board. This may show up the problem areas.
In my experience, transistors and capacitors are the "usual suspects" to check first.
As far as the T&R goes, a lot of folks would love it if someone came out with a recover package for these amps.

It would seem that re-covering just a head would be a fairly simple job. Has anyone here tried it before? I assume recovering one that already has all the foam padding would be easier, but would obtaining and cutting the proper foam padding be much of a job? Do-able for someone who's never dismantled a T&R covering (i.e., someone who's not familiar with how it's done and how it looks on the "inside")?
(not meaning to hijack your thread, here, but thought since you were looking at re-covering anyway....)
