Hello all,
I just found a beautiful K200B-2 with the 315 cab in Charcoal Sparkle for an excellent price...I've ordered handles, casters, a couple knobs, and I'm going looking for the cabinet screws with the matching shoulder washers tomorrow at Lowes...
The K200B-2 head and the 315 cabinet...I'd love to use this amp for both guitar and bass, but I guess primarily bass guitar...I've read that the cabs loaded with CTS speakers from the factory were for bass...is this accurate?
I've also red on this site that the back can be a mess to get off and once it's off, the gasket turns to a black goo after the years...I'm going to take the back off to inspect the speakers, but any thoughts or info on using this monster as a bass amp will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe the CTS speakers (at least, the 15s) were intended for bass. They'd probably work fine for guitar, but might not be as bright as you'd want.
I can't comment on taking the back off, except that I've read the same thing about them. I've only ever taken the back off of my 3x12 cab and a couple of combo amps, and a Kombo organ, but never had any problems with them.
Congrats! I've been on the lookout for a 2x15 or 3x15 cab for some time - seen plenty of them, but none are ever anywhere near me (NE Georgia), and I'm not going to make a cross-country road trip just to score one. The 3x12 works well enough for bass for my needs, so I'm content to wait.

here's hoping that it's no trouble getting the back off...we'll find out soon enough...once the replacement screws and washers arrive, I plan to try and crack it open...I was not actively looking for one, but I have a 212 with a K100, and a 215 with a K100...I also have a 100 PA head for what that's worth. I was just looking at the FB Marketplace page since i refinished a 70's era Burny Jazz bass adding the string-through feature, and I saw this K200B for sale...I watched it for about 10 weeks after that because I offered the seller a trade - straight up for the Burny bass, but no reply. Then I saw that he had reduced the price, so I asked if I could come and check it out. He sent me a couple short videos of him plugging a guitar into it ( he didn't know how to play, he just strummed the strings to get sound from the amp to prove it worked I guess), and I asked for one of the top of the head and sides and back to get an idea of the condition of the naugahyde...
according to the seller, his mom bought it new for her church group in '69 or '70, it lived in a church for about 20+ years, then in his mom's living room for another 10+, and not sure how long this seller had it, but he just wanted it gone...it was lucky I was looking that day...
I'd like to use this for bass, so I'm not sure if this head is designed for that. It's 2 channels, one has a Bright switch ( on/off) with Bass, Treble and Volume, and the other has the same along with Reverb ( which works!) and Speed and Intensity for Tremolo I assume, but this does not seem to function...a Footswitch input, Bright High/Low inputs, and Normal High/Low inputs...
ever seen any literature on this model? on the plate in back is says K200B-2, serial number 40442...I've seen some literature identifying the speakers in a 315 cab as JB Lansing 15's, but I'll need to open it up to see what's loaded inside...I love the thing...it's massive! haha

The right side channel in that model K200 is the bass channel if you want to look at it that way .
One input on that channel and the effects channel on the left will have less bass then the other due to a tone shaping capacitor on that one input jack.
If the speakers in your cabinet where for guitar they could be KEI, JBL or Altec, but they would all have a silver aluminum voice coil cover that could clearly be seen through the grill cloth.
If for some reason they where Jensen 15” drivers then on there mounting rim they would be stamped C15L which was Jensen’s top of the line guitar driver in there concert series of speaker.
The KEI drivers would have a round black felt cover hole in there silver aluminum voice coil cover.
Note that the best way to get the back off these cabinets is to loosen up all the screws a good amount but loosen up the top 3rd of the screw more.
Next lay the cab down on the floor with the top section getting supported by a few books .
Next use a baseball bat or a length of wood thru one of the ports to beat the back loose.
You need to be careful in doing this because there is not much extra speaker cable lenght and if the back drops off too far you will cause damage to the terminal pad on the speaker it’s hooked to.
It’s best to have a helper when you go about this and ware latex gloves because that sealer is a real pain to get off you skin.
