Just acquired a K200B-2, started the process of cleaning and assessing needed parts...the Jewel lamp was blown, so I replaced it, but the new lamp is extremely dim...seen this? I also need to order a grounded power cord to replace the 2 prong cable, and I seem to remember someone here mentioning a vacuum cleaner power cord with the snap on the end similar to the one the Kustom came with...you know, the thing that allows you to snap the plug end onto the rest of the coiled cable after coiling it around the back of the head...I've used 18AWG NEMA 5-15P TO CBL 15' from Digikey before, but it didn't have that end clip...
Any help is appreciated, and thanks!

Welcome, and congrats on your acquisition.  I'm not sure about the pilot lamp, but I'm sure it's a standard part, I just don't know the number.  I'm sure someone else will be long soon with the answer.

As for the power cord, I also very much like to have the little snap-on "clip" molded into the plug.  The only place I know of to get that is here:

They also have one in Grey, for a few dollars less:

The bulb you need is a GE# 1829.

thanks rodak, much appreciated...I have replaced the power cord on my K100, so I still have fuses, a new fuse block, and strain relief bushings. so that's good...not sure if I need to replace the power lamp...it was brighter when I first installed the new bulb, but once I got the chassis back inside the enclosure, it barely comes on...The Reverb works which is also a plus, but the Tremolo does not, but one step at a time. I've ordered new ball casters from Grainger, new handles, screws and washers for the back of the cab, contact cleaner, knobs from Small Bear...this site ROCKS for all the info that can be found...

once I get the new Grounded cord, I'll open it up and get started...maybe replacing the light socket IS the way to go...

thanks again guys

It’s extremely  extremely rare that the type of  lamp sockets these amps are made with  go bad, it may just be dirty in which case some cleaning with a Q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol might be all it needs .

Also the 200 ohm 5 watt resistor feeding the bulb could be going bad or the lamp socket itself could simply have a bad ground contact, and this would be the most likely thing you have going on especially if the amp had been previously worked on.

Be aware that when the bulb is working right that box type 5 watt resistor gets dam hot and can still you a nice burn until the amp has been off for 4 minutes.

FYI:  The black cord arrived yesterday, and it did NOT have the cord clip on the plug, so I sent it back, unopened.  If I can't get the cord clip on the plug, I'll just go to Home Depot or Wal Mart and buy a 3-wire extension cord for less.

I'll let y'all know if the grey one has the cord clip when it comes in next week.

I ended up buying the power cable from Digikey...no clip...15' black grounded....I bought from them when I replaced the one on a K100....I was not getting anything from the Tremolo effect...until I used contact cleaner on ALL the pots, now it works! and the Reverb works! There are better sounding reverb pedals, but if you're careful with how much you use it, the reverb onboard can be useable...

The replacement Ball Casters from Grainger are EXACT replacements, they look great, and new washers make the back of the cab look like new! If I could figure out how to, I'd post pictures...

I have  thought...I have a 215 cab as well as this 315, and I have vintage Lansing 15's I'd like to load into the 215...I was thinking of offering the 100 PA head and the K100  ( both Charcoal)head for a K200 Bass head I can use with bass and the 215 cab...is that reasonable?

Hopefully your Lansing speakers ( Altec or JBL) are 8 ohms so you can wire them for the needed 4 ohm load.

There is not much of a call these days for the K100 PA heads.

You might have better luck selling just its cabinet if it’s in good shape and the knobs if there original.

It’s reverb tank can be tried in your K200 to see if that might  help out with the issue your having with that.

Lastly. Pictures can not be post on this site .

You can put them up on sites made for such and then post a link here if you like.

The Grey cord arrived today, and it does have the cord clip molded on to the plug - yay!

Glad you got the clip!

Not interested in selling that 215 cab just yet. It IS in wonderful condition, and when paired with the K100 with guitar it sounds great...I'll add the Grainger casters to THAT cab next time I make up that way...it's in a friend's house till my wife and I move back to that area. That 215 has Standel 15's in it - definitely not stock, but my friend wants to give me the Lansing 15's from way back in the day, and why not at this point...they have never been used! Brand new in their original boxes!
Now that the Tremolo and Reverb function on the K200B-2, I need to play it  more...I played bass through it as well, and it sounds good. The pilot light issue was a bad lamp...replaced it with another, and it's now normal brightness.
Next step when time allows is to thoroughly clean the 315 cabinet, although I'm still waiting for the handles...once they arrive, I'll tackle the power cord update...the fuse in the head is soldered in, so I'll add a fuse block, but the K100 I updated had a screw to mount the fuse block - the K200 has a rivet...not sure yet how I'll secure it...thanks again for all the great tips and advice.

Once late 1967 came around all Kustom amps had the fuses soldered in.

One reason was so they could not pop out, but the more important reason was to save the amp from further damage by having owner just pop in another fuse to see if that fixes it.

Doing such never does because fuses blow for a reason, that being a problem with the amp.

Kustom gave up on the front panel mounted circuit breakers that some amps had because a breaker reacts far slower to a issue then a fuse does.
